Andrei Mongush and Mari Kalkun

Andrei invited me to join his solo concert at Viljandi Folk Music Festival in 2009. It was a great honor and wonderful experience to play and improvise with one of the best singers and instrumentalists from Tuva. Andrei has also been a member of the well-known Huun-Huur-Tu group.

Estonian journalist Margus Haav writes later in Estonian daily Postimees:

“Mari Kalkun, one of Estonia’s most talented young composers and singers, stepped on the stage as a surprise guest. Their duet was faboulous. World sense identical. Fragile, but powerful and mesmerizing Mari Kalkun and exotic, but still familiar Mongush. The soundwaves of those two mingled, diffracted, parted and reunited again. The emotion was so powerful, that solely because of this concert it would have been worth to come to the festival. (Postimees 26.07.2009)

// In Estonian //
